Getting over the fear of Studio Photos

One thing I have heard time and time again as a Nashville studio photographer is the fear that comes with doing a studio session. I get it, it can be daunting to get in front of a camera and even more to do so in a big space with lighting and backdrops. Here are a few tips that I have found that make the process smoother when stepping into a studio session:

  • Communication goes a long way - Plan your session with your photographer before hand. Make sure he understands the scope of the project and the vision you are wanting to achieve.

  • Try your outfit on before the session - You want to look good and feel good before your session, discomfort shows on camera.

  • Remember to enjoy the process - Your photography session is something that you should look forward to, remember to in the moment enjoy it. If something is not working don’t be afraid to vocalize it to the photographer and switch it up.

  • Move between shots - Once you hear that shutter or see the flash go off, move a little. It pays of when selecting your final images to have a variety of different poses.
